Vineyard Farm, Bebington

Welcome

Welcome to Persimmon Homes (“Persimmon”) public consultation on the draft proposals for residential development of up to 450 dwellings at Vineyard Farm, Bebington.

Feedback from the local community and key stakeholders is important to Persimmon and all comments will be carefully considered as we develop and shape our proposals.

Once we have considered the feedback from this consultation, Persimmon’s intention is to submit an outline planning application for residential development, including access details, to Wirral Council. Other details of the development such as layout, landscaping, scale and appearance will be submitted to the Council for consideration at a later stage.

We would be grateful if you could take the time to review the information on this webpage and let us know your views.

Note that this consultation exercise is in addition to the statutory public consultation the Council will undertake following the submission of any formal planning application.

Site Context ⭢

  • The Site extends to approximately 24 hectares and comprises a number of irregularly shaped arable fields.

  • Vehicular access to the site is proposed to be taken from Poulton Road to the west, with another access from Wolfrick Drive to the north.

  • There are strong hedgerows and trees along the western boundary with Poulton Road; existing housing frames the northern boundary; the south of the site is bound by woodland, and the east is also bound by woodland, beyond which is the Merseyrail Line and Bromborough Rake Station.

Emerging Proposals

Persimmon is proposing a high-quality landscape-led housing development, which will help to boost the supply and assist the Council to meet identified housing needs.

The proposals will include:

  • Up to 450 dwellings at Vineyard Farm, Bebington. Bebington is identified by the Council as a commuter settlement within the Wirral urban area, recognised for its strong links to Liverpool and other employment centres.

  • Housing in a sustainable and accessible location within walking distance of the settlement of Bromborough and associated local services and facilities, including the Bromborough Rake Station.

  • The retention and enhancement of existing trees, hedgerows and ponds on the site; surface water runoff managed through a sustainable drainage system and extensive landscaping and planting within the site.

  • Substantial areas of structural planting, particularly to the east and south of the site forming a landscape buffer to the adjoining woodland.

  • Housing to reflect the local character and vernacular of the surrounding area.

  • Vehicular accesses off Poulton Road to the east and from Wolfrick Drive to the north.

  • Pedestrian and cycle access through the site, linking to existing routes, and enhancing connectivity to the surrounding area.

  • Policy compliant affordable housing provision.

  • Large areas of informal and formal Public Open Space, including children’s play facilities.

  • Improvements to the existing Public Right of Way network.

  • Additional biodiversity enhancements, including the creation of new habitats and installation of barn owl boxes and bat and bird boxes and hedgehog highways. The greenspace within the site would also be brought under positive ecological management.

  • Measures to support the long-term preservation and protection of the SSSI and Ancient Woodland.
